  A Marshall County woman is facing a felony charge of identity theft after allegedly creating a fake social media account and phone number to impersonate someone.

  Murray police officers found two deceased women and charged a Murray man with two counts of murder Thursday night in a southside Murray neighborhood.

Murray Police Department in a release said 51-year-old Murray resident Shannon Scott is being charged is also being charged with one count of first-degree burglary, one count of tampering with evidence and a count of animal cruelty.

A Murray State University Football player was released from the team this weekend after being taken into custody on drug charges.

Update: Murray Police Department said the grenade was checked by Kentucky State Police's Hazardous Device Unit and the Paducah Police Bomb Squad and was determined to be live. Police say the device has been secured and taken to a separate location where it will be destroyed. 


A Murray Police officer is being recognized for his efforts in stopping incidences of drunk driving.

Police officers understand that often their interaction with the public is during high-stress times, so the Murray Police Department and other forces reach out to explain more about what they are trained to do in an eight-week Citizens' Police Academy with night classes through March and April. On Sounds Good, Sergeant David Howe and Kate Lochte do an overview of the course, which includes the basics of police work, a tour of the 911 call-center, understanding drug investigations, demystifying criminology, a tour of the jail and more.

The Murray Police Department begins their eight-week Citizens Police Academy this Monday, giving members of the community insight into the realities behind everyday police work. Sergeant Dave Howe says often people get a perspective of the police from national media, television and movies, and that a lot of times it's not entirely accurate - especially in rural areas. He speaks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good about the topics covered: from crime scene investigation to the court room procedure, to how to protect yourself in your home.
