WKRECC Warns Members of Payment Phone Scam

wkrecc.com

West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation is warning its members of a payment scam that surfaced today.

A caller claiming to represent the utility tells members their electric bill is overdue and must be paid immediately or service will be terminated. This scammer then tries to convince the member to buy a prepaid card to settle the bill.

WKRECC officials said the company does not ask for pre-paid debit cards for payment and always provides time for customers to make a payment before terminating service.

Questions can be made to WKRECC at 270-247-1321 or 1-877-495-7322.
