With help from federal mediators, Honeywell Metropolis and the United Steelworkers Local 7-669 have reached a tentative settlement that could end a work stoppage that began last August.
In a news release, Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe said the union has indicated it will vote on the ratification of the new contract this Wednesday or Thursday. He said the mediator – The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service – has requested the terms of the contract not be commented on at this time.
The union previously turned down a six-year contract from the nuclear fuel producer that included a 2 percent wage increase each year. The union has about 200 workers at the Metropolis, Ill. plant.
