Paducah Film Society presents The Blair Witch Project

Paducah Film Society presents The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project
PFS023
Written & Directed By: Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez
Starring: Heather Donahue, Michael Williams, and Joshua Leonard
1999 || 81 minutes || Rated R

Three film students vanish after traveling into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the local Blair Witch legend, leaving only their footage behind. The promotional marketing campaign for this legendary film listed the actors as either "missing" or "deceased," leading many to believe that what was seen was real and immediately popularizing the "found footage" horror genre pioneered in the 1980s by Cannibal Holocaust. Today, The Blair Witch Project still stands as one of the best horror movies of the 90s, the cornerstone of what became a multi-entry franchise that helped pave the way for movies like Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield.

This screening is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Paducah.
The Paducah Film Society is Maiden Alley Cinema's own monthly movie club, screening classic, cult, and foreign films in western Kentucky. PFS is supported by Maiden Alley Cinema, WKMS, and local donors.
