Auditions for Into the Woods will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts on the campus of Madisonville Community College in Madisonville, Kentucky.
THE STORY: The Brothers Grimm hit the stage with an epic fairytale about wishes, family, and the choices we make. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The performances are July 12-14, 2024, at the Glema Center. Regularly scheduled rehearsals will begin May 21st. The casting calls for 18 performers of all vocal ranges. Auditions are open to performers age 16 and up. Those auditioning should prepare a monologue as well as one of the songs found here: https://bit.ly/4a2CXMO .
The part auditioned with will not impact which roles each person is considered for. This production will be directed by Jamie Moss, and music director will be Liam Coursey.

A self-taught artist and cabinet maker from Fulton, Kentucky, Henderson was an artist with a disability whose paintings and carved birds of the southern United States won accolades and fans among art collectors and others.
A launch party for this exhibit will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. with a short program discussing Henderson’s art with Discovery Park senior director of exhibits and collections, Jennifer Wildes. This event is FREE for all guests. Light refreshments will be served.

Weekly Fiber Gathering at Kentucky Movers and Makers will be held from 4 PM - 6 PM each Tuesday night. This will be an "open" gathering, so bring whatever you are working on and join in some fiber comradery!*Registration is not required
Healing and Hope Reins will be hosting Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) at Discovery Park of America this summer. The group sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. from May 14 through July 9, 2024. The parent information session will take place in the LEC Room inside Discovery Park, and the group sessions will take place behind Discovery Park in a fenced-in, spacious lot. Horses will be provided by the Springer Family of Medina, Tennessee.
The sessions will be led by Emma Shoaf, a licensed professional counselor–mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP) in the State of Tennessee, and Kyle Springer, an equine professional and lifetime horseman.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is a particular model of psychotherapy that involves horses or equines in the treatment. If an individual has trouble feeling safe in human relationships, that individual might feel safer connecting with a horse initially, who is nonjudgmental and accepting.
Healing and Hope Reins utilizes an approach called Natural Lifemanship, which teaches a foundational principle that healing occurs in the context of genuine relationships. Informed by both neurobiology and attachment theory, there is great emphasis on trauma-informed care, the development of healthy relationships and utilizing rhythm for regulation.
The equine-assisted psychotherapy group sessions will be held for children ages 9 to 12 and is an eight-week-long course.
