KYTC Asks Police to Assist with Stopping ‘Water Over Road’ Sign Theft

KYTCDistrict1, via Facebook

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is asking for law enforcement to assist with stopping the theft and vandalism of Water Over Road, Highway and Road Closed signage.

The signs mark flooded highways in the region.

KYTC said in a release on Wednesday that highway personnel have replaced signs at several locations, multiple times. Crews have responded to complaints about the lack of signs by flooded roadways and have found them either removed or tossed into ditches.

Replacements include locations in Webster County and along the McCracken-Graves county line.

KYTC said motorists caught removing signs can face up to a $250 dollar fine, with an additional $50 fine for each sign or traffic control device that is moved.
