The Kentucky Department of Education is touting the state’s graduation rate during the 2012-2013 school year, which was above the national average.
In a release, the department cites data from the National Center for Education Statistics that show the state’s 86 percent graduation rate was the fourth highest rate in the nation.
The commonwealth shares that rate with six other states. And nine state share the top three spots.
Kentucky now uses a more accurate graduate rate calculation that the rest of the country has moved to.
Officials say this last school year the graduation rate increased even more to 87.5 percent.
