More than $2 million in federal funds is going towards Kentucky programs fighting violence against women.

Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Secretary John Tilley says the funding will be made available through the STOP Violence Against Women Act Grant Program.

The funds may be used for law enforcement, prosecution, judicial strategies and victim services involving violent crimes against women.  That includes domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence.

The funding comes from US Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.

Agency applications are due by September 18th through the Kentucky Justice Grants Management System.  Awards will be announced in January.
