Emerge Kentucky Selects Participants for 2017

Facebook

A Kentucky organization that trains Democratic women to run for political office, has selected participants for 2017.

Over the next six months, Emerge Kentucky will train twenty-six women in public speaking, fundraising, campaign strategy and ethics in politics. Henderson resident Margaret Ridley is in this year’s program. Ridley says she’s hoping to learn about campaigning and what goes on in politics. She says running for office is a possibility.

“I certainly see elected officials as another arm for economic development, bringing jobs, quality of life issues and things like that. I love it. I’m passionate about it. I think it would be a good fit for what I’m interested in.”

Paducah native Jennifer Moore has trained more than 140 women since founding the program in 2009. Previous participants include new Paducah mayor Brandi Harless and Paducah city commissioner Sarah Stewart Holland.
