Rep. Massie Says House Republicans are Excited About GOP Tax Plan

Congressman Thomas Massie, Facebook

Kentucky’s Fourth District Congressman said he’s confident that his party will be able to pass the most sweeping tax code change in decades.

Republican Thomas Massie spoke after party leaders shared details of a House bill that would slash the corporate tax rate, and reduce taxes for some middle income families. Massie said his party is excited about reshaping the tax code.

“So let me tell you, the response of the Republicans who were in the room today—this was a closed meeting—there was a lot of cheering, and not much groaning, which is not common in these closed meetings,” said Massie.

The plan is estimated to cost $1.5 trillion, and reduces the number of tax brackets from seven to four. The top rate of nearly 40% would remain for the country’s highest earners.
