Paducah, KY – A Paducah US Post Office branch was closed for over two hours today as police investigated a bomb scare. A post-office employee noticed a suspicious package in a trash outside the Avondale branch. The Paducah Police bomb squad was notified and closed down the building and street around the post office and used X-ray and a robot to evaluate the item. Police spokesperson Robin Newberry says the package turned out to be an empty suitcase. Operations have returned to normal.
