Paducah Residents Appeal Greyhound Station

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Some Paducah residents are appealing a decision to allow Greyhound buses to operate out of the Paducah Area Transit System terminal on Ninth and Harrison. Monica and Paul Bilak filed an appeal to the city's Historic and Architectural Review Commission claiming the commercial bus terminal is not permitted in the historic zone. The Lower Town residents expressed concern that customers may loiter in the area and crime may increase. The decision to allow Greyhound to operate at the PATS station came last week from the city's director of planning, Steve Ervin. The Paducah Sun reports the reasoning behind Ervin's decision is that the terminal is exempt from zoning regulations because a government agency owns it. The City Commission will be holding a hearing next Wednesday at 5:30pm in City Hall.
