Metropolis, IL – Developers are considering building a 140-room hotel and a 4-5,000-seat arena on the banks of the Ohio River in Metropolis. This is not the first time the idea has been proposed. The bad economy killed plans last year from a series of developers who couldn't get the finances together. This time, developers are said to already have the money in place and want to move forward on the project. According to the Paducah Sun, Mayor Billy McDaniel says Metropolis could greatly benefit from an asset like the proposed convention center.
