Murray, KY – Co-owner of the Big Apple Caf in Murray Boone Chambers believes citations issued by the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control board are directly related to a push to allow package liquor sales in Murray. Monday night, an undercover ABC investigator penalized the restaurant for hosting poker tournaments. Chambers says the restaurant did not profit from the games; he says the players were private citizens. Chambers is also co-chair of the Keep It Local campaign, which is seeking to bring the package liquor issue to a vote. Chambers says the Big Apple notified what they thought were the proper channels before allowing poker, but he adds in retrospect they should have called ABC directly.
