Paducah, KY – The city of Paducah officially owns the Executive Inn hotel. City officials and hotel owners met today to sign the 1-point-8 million dollar agreement. Paducah spokesperson Pam Spencer says the city has also paid off the liens on the hotel. Spencer says the next step will be liquidating salvage from the Big E. Bid openings for that could begin as early as January. Hotel demolition is slated for this summer. The total costs to the city for expenses related to the Executive Inn are around six million dollars. Spencer says it will take two years at the minimum before a new hotel occupies the site. However, the city will continue to host the American Quilter's Society Show and Contest through a temporary facility.
