Frankfort, KY – A bill to change the way schools across Kentucky are evaluated for overall condition sparked some emotional debate on the senate floor. The bill was ultimately approved by a 21 to 17 vote. It requires the state department of education to implement a standardized and consistent method for judging school conditions. It also requires an independent review. Grayson Senator Robin Webb voted against the measure
"I've toured my facilities I don't need a second opinion, I know my children need it now they needed it yesterday."
Bill sponsor Katie Stine says the current process of ranking schools was never intended to be used to determine funding.
