Paducah, KY – The Reidland-Farley Fire District is waiting to hear whether its suspended fire chief wants to return to the job. The Paducah Sun reports that Reidland-Farley Fire District trustees haven't heard from Chief Richard Tapp about his intentions.
The department's attorney, David Kelly, says should Tapp ask to return to his $60,000 a year job, he'll face administrative charges that could lead to his dismissal. Assistant Chief Rick Archer has run the department since December. Tapp was hired in August 2002.
Trustees unanimously voted Dec. 16 to suspend Tapp without pay amid questions about his management of the department and finances, which included undocumented expenses and being paid twice for the same pay period. Since his suspension, Tapp has been living near Memphis, Tennessee.
