Mayfield, KY – A controversial Florida pastor says he won't come to Mayfield unless the people there hold a rally for him. Pastor Terry Jones tells the Paducah Sun he won't come to protest the spread of Islam unless the people want him. Mayfield First United Methodist pastor Joe Hansen says that's unlikely. Hansen says the community wants to move forward rather than do anything that will bring more negative attention. Jones had talked about coming to Mayfield after he claimed residents called him about a proposed mosque there. The zoning board denied a permit to operate a mosque near the city's downtown, citing limited parking. The American Civil Liberties Union is appealing the decision.
