Graves County, KY – Agriculture experts say continued drought conditions may threaten fall crops and tobacco harvests. Graves County Agriculture Extension Agent Kenny Perry says without considerable rain, winter wheat seed could easily die. Perry says most farmers are going ahead with their planting. The extended dry weather also could cause incomplete curing in tobacco. National Weather Service Meteorologist Alex Dodd says the region is between 8 and 14 inches low for the year. Dodd says while weather patterns show signs of shifting, nothing is certain.
