Fort Knox, KY – The three-year conversion of Fort Knox, Kentucky, from an armor base to a multi-functional Army command center, remains on schedule. The armor school is moving to Fort Benning, Georgia, but Garrison Commander, Colonel Eric Schwartz, told Kentucky lawmakers the General George S. Patton museum will remain at Fort Knox.

"It is going to become a living museum, where it will also be a teaching institution as well as being able to carry on the characteristics of many of the leadership institutions that we have at Ft. Knox now. And the Patton Collection is also staying."

The transformation is expected to be completed by next September. The base's population has already increased by 11-thousand, including contractors and civilians.
