Murray, Ky. – With a projected national increase in occurrences of Alzheimer's from five million to 16 million in the next 40 years, the Murray-Calloway County Hospital is conducting a study to assess Alzheimer's and dementia in our region. The study, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky, could lead to the development of an Alzheimer's Treatment Unit and Dementia Center. Keith Travis of the MCCH Office of Institutional Development says they look to have the final report in February or March of 2011. He says a financial goal will be set once they've defined the need.
