Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County office of employment and training was overwhelmed yesterday as a large crowd turned out to apply for jobs at the Madisonville General Electric plant. More than six hundred people from Hopkins and surrounding counties applied for 48 machinist jobs. It was the first day the office accepted applications for the positions. The plant recently announced the extra hires at its GE Aviation facility, which has increased production. These are the first new jobs at the plant since 2007. The Madisonville Messenger reports applications will be accepted through Friday.
