Frankfort, KY – Legislation expanding areas where handguns may be legally stored in vehicles in Kentucky is moving in Frankfort. Current law allows Kentuckians without concealed carry permits to keep a firearm in their vehicle, but only if it's stored in the glove box. The bill expands the definition to include consoles, enclosed compartments and storage areas originally installed by the vehicle's manufacturer. Sen. Robin Webb of Grayson supports the bill.
"That's where I like to keep mine. In the side pocket of the door. So, I'll be fine doing that now. No question. Well, thank you Rep. Coursey for bringing this."
The bill, which already has House approval, easily cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee. It's expected to meet little resistance on the Senate floor.
