Martin, TN – The Faculty senate at the University of Tennessee Martin may join others in the system in opposing legislation to allow more firearms on campus. The state legislature is considering a bill to allow full time university faculty and staff with concealed carry permits to bring guns on campus. UT-Martin Faculty Senate President Janet Wilbert says the Executive Committee drafted a resolution yesterday that opposes the expansion of right to carry laws on their campus. Wilbert says more guns won't alleviate potential problems. The full faculty senate votes on the resolution March 22.
