Senate Committee Set to Talk About House Medicaid Compromise

By Angela Hatton

Frankfrot, KY – Kentucky State Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee Chairman Bob Leeper says he wants to move on a compromise to shore up the Medicaid budget. His committee meets this morning to discuss the issue. The House wants to transfer funds from next year to balance this year's Medicaid budget, then balance next year's with savings from managed care services. The Senate wants across-the-board cuts to all agencies. To resolve the impasse, the House is proposing cuts that kick in only if the privatization doesn't work.
