Madisonville, KY – Madisonville, Kentucky's Sunday alcohol sales ordinance goes into effect today after it passed 4 to 2 in a City Council meeting on Monday night. Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator Ron Hunt says ten restaurants and four private clubs in the city have the proper drink license to be eligible for Sunday alcohol sales. With this ordinance comes a one percent increase in the three percent regulatory license fee on total monthly gross sales of alcohol. The tax increase begins July 1st . City officials expect the money to bring in an additional one-hundred thousand dollars annually.
