Murray, KY – The city of Murray and Calloway County plan to start picking up tree limb debris from the recent storms. Murray Street Department Superintendent Ron Allbritten says workers will start Monday in the northeast part of the city. Allbritten says the work will likely take 10 weeks to finish. Residents may put out tree limbs smaller than six inches in diameter and less than six feet long. For bigger debris, the county is opening a storm debris drop-off site at the County Road Garage. That site opens tomorrow. Judge-Executive Larry Elkins says residents should only bring debris from trees, not building material or roof shingles. Elkins says crews will also pick up limbs on county right of way roads. No timeline has been set. So far, the state does not plan to assist in debris removal.
