Union City, TN – The first round of employee transfers has begun at the Union City, Tennessee Goodyear plant. The facility is set to close by the end of the year. The Union City Daily Messenger reports 10 of the plant's 1,900 employees are transferring to North Carolina and Alabama. Most workers there have the option of transferring to other North American Goodyear plants. Additional employees are scheduled to transfer later this month to a Goodyear facility in Virginia. Nevertheless, the Union City plant is now hiring temporary summer workers to fill in for employees who will take vacation time.
