Memphis, TN – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials plan to open an information center to handle inquiries about the Birds Point-New Madrid levee. Information about the group's recovery efforts and updates on the levee's restoration will be available to the public. The center will also accept claims for compensation. The location and the exact opening date will be announced in the next few weeks. The Corps also intends to hold several informational public meetings throughout affected areas, but dates, times and locations have yet to be determined.
