Smithland, KY – Many Livingston County residents are assessing damage to their homes as flood waters subside. While residences in Smithland were mostly spared, it's estimated some 150 homes were damaged throughout the county. Judge-Executive Chris Lasher expects to find out within a week whether they will qualify for federal assistance, though he believes they have met the necessary threshold. The Paducah Sun reports Smithland residents remain concerned that another heavy rain could hurt the town as their main water pump was damaged during the floods.
