Murray, KY – The National Weather Service of Paducah predicts rainfall and high winds will reach a peak later today. Forecaster Jim Packett says the weather will get more severe as it moves east out of the area Thursday.
The upper level low is going to dive southeast and begin to push this surface low and frontal system towards us. As it does so, it's going to cause a number of things to happen: it's going to increase low-level moisture, lapse rate, instability, cape all the necessary severe weather parameters jet dynamics, rotation generation parameters, just about anything you can list it's all coming together.."
Super cell development expected this afternoon and evening to be followed by more severe weather and possibly tornadic conditions. Residents should limit travel, watch for warnings, and make sure weather safety plans are in place. WKMS will issue updates as available.
