Murray, KY – Kentucky Secretary of State candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes was among the Democrat speakers at the Jefferson Jackson Dinner over the weekend. Grimes, who beat current Secretary of State Elaine Walker for the Democratic nomination, thanked western Kentucky women for their support in the primaries and stressed that the votes of minor demographics will not be forgotten in her upcoming campaign.
"It's about making sure we are guaranteeing that every vote is counted from our seniors to our veterans to our victims of domestic violence. It's about making sure we're generating interest and excitement, especially amongst our young people."
Grimes faces Republican Bill Johnson at the polls this fall. Johnson, who supports stricter identification requirements at voting polls, spent the weekend campaigning in Louisville at the Second Annual Unity Picnic.
