Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's senior U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell says the timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan should not be, in his words, inflexible. McConnell made his remarks in response to the troop draw-down President Obama set forth in his speech to the nation last night. McConnell says any such inflexibility could squander the gains made in Afghanistan so far. In his own statement, Senator Rand Paul says the withdrawal of 30 thousand U.S. troops by the end of 2012 does not go far enough. Paul says the President's plan, coupled with what he calls an "unconstitutional war" in Libya, demonstrates a lack of leadership.
