Murray, KY – Jackson Purchase Medical Center is apologizing for costly billing mistakes. JPMC has agreed to pay nearly $1 million dollars to the federal government for false information sent to Medicare which claimed inpatient rates for certain outpatient procedures. Stephanie Collins of the US District Attorney's Office clarifies the allegations.

"This settlement agreement is neither an admission of liability or concession by the United States that claims are not well-founded."

The hospital released a statement today that says it is adding additional internal and external billing and coding resources to prevent a similar mistake from occurring in the future. JPMC is set to pay the settlement by July 7.
