Illinois Lt. Governor Joins Fight Against Utility Rate Increases

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Illinois Lt. Governor Sheila Simon has joined the fight against a bill intended to allow electric companies to impose large rate increases. Simon's opposition to the bill comes after Governor Pat Quinn vetoed the bill Monday. Simon is now urging state lawmakers to back the Governor's veto when they return to their normal session next month. The measure would have allowed Ameren and ComEd to automatically impose rate increases in order to modernize Illinois' power grid.
