Gov. Beshear Asks Obama for Money for Kentucky Bridge Repairs

By Shelly Baskin/AP

Murray, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has asked President Barack Obama for emergency funds to repair a Louisville bridge that has been shut down since September 9th. The Sherman Minton Bridge was closed after a crack was found in a steel support beam. Beshear met with Obama today, greeting him publicly at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport. Obama pitched his jobs bill in Cincinnati at an outdated Brent Spence Bridge that connects Kentucky and Ohio. The bridge is one of several Kentucky spans across the Ohio River that need repairs.
