Williams, Galbraith Sound off on Race to the Top

By Ron Smith

Richmond, KY – Gubernatorial candidates David Williams and Gatewood Galbraith question the strings attached to federal funding for education. During an hour long debate on KET Monday night, host Bill Goodman asked David Williams if he would accept 72 million dollars in federal Race to the Top' money.Williams said the problem with accepting federal funding is the state might be liable for future costs. The third candidate for governor, incumbent Democrat Steve Beshear, did not appear on last night's program. He says he'll participate in two other debates with Williams, a Republican, and Galbraith, an independent candidate.
