KY Unemployment Increases to 9.7 Percent

Murray, KY – Job losses in several sectors have pushed Kentucky's unemployment rate to 9.7 percent for September. The state's Office of Employment and Training released the latest unemployment figures today showing a slight rise from the 9.5 percent rate in August. The government sector reported the sharpest decline in employment with 2,500 jobs lost for the month. The Commonwealth's leisure and hospitality sector decreased by 1,300 jobs, and other services, including repair and maintenance businesses, lost 1,000 jobs.
