Hospital Files Suit to Keep Records Private

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – One of the four Louisville hospitals involved in a proposed merger is suing to keep documents related to the merger private. University Hospital filed suit Friday to overturn a decision last month from Attorney General Jack Conway that it is a public entity. According to The Courier-Journal, any ruling in the lawsuit could also affect the proposed merger of University, Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Healthcare, and St. Joseph Health System in Lexington. That's because opponents of the merger say University is public institution and should not have to adhere to some Catholic health directives, such as a ban on sterilizations. University has argued that it is a private facility.
