Paducah, KY – Paducah officials are considering an ordinance allowing homeless shelters to operate in the city. Commissioners discussed the possibility of a shelter after two residents asked to repurpose a vacant building. A draft of the proposed ordinance allows homeless shelters to operate provided they are continuously staffed, have adequate lighting and laundry facilities and have an approved code of conduct for residents. City commissioners and Mayor Bill Paxton voiced their support for the change. A public hearing on the issue is scheduled for November 21st.
