Murray, KY – Montgomery County officials are looking for new bidders for a new weather radio tower after months of unsuccessful negotiations with AT&T. Though a temporary tower serves some residents, officials describe the county as incapacitated without the tower. It was knocked down in early April. Montgomery County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ed Patterson tells the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle officials are distraught about this situation. He says the county will be forced to seek other options if a renewal contract with AT&T isn't received by November 30th. Patterson says the sheriff's office has received several complaints from citizens over the lack of coverage. County officials acted quickly after the tower came down to put up a temporary one on Highway Drive. Authorities said at the time insurance would cover the cost of a permanent replacement.
