Governor Andy Beshear has issued an executive orderfor non-discrimination in employment, services and contracting in Kentucky.
The order builds on previous protections by adding provisions for gender expression; pregnancy or related medical conditions; and marital or familial status.
Beshear said the state currently faces challenges, including a global health pandemic and financial fallout, that requires a “full spectrum of knowledge, skills and talent of our people.” He said the order sends the right message about the state’s priorities and ensures that the commonwealth “welcomes and benefits from the contributions of all our citizens.”
