Grand Rivers Dragon Boat Festival Raises Funds for Food Charity Next Week

www.grandriversdragonboat.com/

Dragon Boats line the shores of Kentucky Lake next week in an effort to raise funds for a local food charity.

Grand Rivers will host the inaugural Dragon Boat Festival July 16 with proceeds benefitting Livingston County Helping Hands, a food pantry that assists approximately 600 people a month.

Helping Hands Administrator Darlene Timmons says money is normally raised through yard sales, barbecues, and car shows. This year they are switching things up in hopes of fully stocking the pantry.

“[Proceeds] would be basically used to buy foods that we put on the shelf. If we are not donated certain items, like if we need beans because that’s a good protein to have in the house, then we’ll buy white beans with it or canned goods, whatever we need that month.”

The event is on July 16 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m with food and music throughout the day.

Registration is open to any age, size, ability, or gender. Click here to register.
