Murray, KY – Murray State University's Wrather West Kentucky Museum is now home to a bronze statue of the late Grand Ole Opry humorist Minnie Pearl. Nashville music industry executive Rod Harris delivered the 7-foot-tall statue Tuesday. It has been displayed around Pearl's hometown of Centerville, Tennessee until now. Harris says Murray State got the statue because the school works with representatives of the industry. Pearl performed on the Opry from 1940 until a few years before her death in 1996 and also appeared on the television show "Hee Haw."
