What’s Happening with the West Kentucky Polar Plunge Saturday

Special Olympics of Kentucky-Polar Plunge Shutterfly

The annual Special Olympics fundraiser is scheduled to proceed with a few minor changes.

Organizer Laura Miller says the plunge is still scheduled and the pre-registration event will happen as planned tonight from 4:00-6:00 at the Kentucky Dam Village Convention Center. The 5k has been canceled.

Miller says tonight is a good time to bring in the collected donations and pick up t-shirts and other incentives. She encourages attendance tonight because the possibility of freezing rain tomorrow may keep some participants from attending the plunge.

Opening ceremonies  kick off tomorrow at 10:45 and the plunge at 11:30

Chad Lampe, a Poplar Bluff, Missouri native, was raised on radio. He credits his father, a broadcast engineer, for his technical knowledge, and his mother for the gift of gab. At ten years old he broke all bonds of the FCC and built his own one watt pirate radio station. His childhood afternoons were spent playing music and interviewing classmates for all his friends to hear. At fourteen he began working for the local radio stations, until he graduated high school. He earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Murray State, and a Masters Degree in Mass Communication. In November, 2011, Chad was named Station Manager in 2016.
