The Kentucky Baptist Convention has elected an Elizabethtown pastor as its president.
Bill Langley, senior pastor of Severns Valley Baptist Church, was chosen on Tuesday at the state convention's annual meeting at Florence Baptist Church.
News media report Langley was unopposed for the unpaid, volunteer position. The president's main role is to appoint chair persons of convention committees and lead mission board meetings.
Langley says he will do all he can to help educate pastors and church leaders about what can be done to fortify biblical-based teachings.
Langley's church has been one of the state's top supporters of the Southern Baptist Convention's Cooperative Program, giving more than $12 million dating back to the 1920s.
