Comer To Join Hemp Company Vertical In Opening New Trigg Co. Facility

COMER.HOUSE.GOV, CROPPED

U.S. Congressman James Comer is joining hemp company Vertical on Friday to celebrate the opening of their new facility in Trigg County.

Vertical said in a release the $5 million investment will allow the plant to cultivate, extract and manufacture a wide-range of hemp-based CBD products.

The company plans to hire more than 100 employees. Both Comer and Senator Mitch McConnell have voiced support to take hemp off the federal list of controlled substances.

Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles has said the goal of the state’s hemp pilot program is to keep strengthening the effort to put hemp on a "responsible path toward commercialization."

Vertical claims they are one of the largest integrated hemp companies in the country.

At the event, President Smoke Wallin and COO Drew Milburn will discuss the facility along with changes to hemp that have been proposed at the federal level.
