MSU Music Dept Gives New Life to Gershwin in Crazy For You

Based on the 1930 Gershwin musical Girl Crazy, Crazy For You is a romantic comedy full of tap numbers, the wild wild West, and good old fashioned showtunes. Director, Dr. Maribeth Crawford, Polly, played by Livi Gregorowicz, and Bella Zangler, played by Nathan Arnold, visit Sounds Good to discuss the process behind pulling the show together.

It's a classic tale of a boy, a girl, and a theater in desperate need of salvation. Starstruck Bobby Child  works as a banker for his overbearing mother, Lottie, although his real dream is to be a dancer for the New York City Zangler follies. When he's sent to Nevada by his mother to investigate a far-away customer who has defaulted on a mortgage, he immediately falls in love with the fiery post office worker (and only woman in the town), Polly. Polly's father happens to be the owner of the Gaiety Theater -- the defaulted property in question. Bobby is determined to use his New York charm and flair to save the theater and revive Deadrock, Nevada. Crazy For You combines tap dancing, comedy, and classic Gershwin tunes to make a production suitable for the whole family.
The Murray State music department will be presenting Crazy For You on November 16, 17, and 18th at 7:30 and on November 19th at 2:30. Shows will take place at Robert E. Johnson Theater. To reserve tickets for Crazy for You, visit Murray State's Tickets website
