NPR's Cheryl Devall reports that on this opening day of the Democratic National Convention, party liberals are generally keeping a low profile. They are focused on getting Clinton re-elected and, more importantly to some, regaining control of the House and Senate. But there are still divisions among Democrats over the party's direction, with Clinton's recent signing of the the welfare bill angering many liberal Democrats.
