NPR's Brooke Gladstone reports on the American Medical Association's latest findings on the impact of media violence on children. The AMA surveyed studies on the impact of TV mayhem dating back to the fifties. The AMA report connects a host of childhood health problems to excessive television watching and determines that violent entertainment causes violent behavior. To help parents cope, the medical association issued guidelines that among other things urge parents to keep TV's and VCR's OUT of their kids' rooms. The guidelines are being distributed to physicians across the country.
